In 1959, Edward Teller warned of global warming from fossil fuels. Franta says the industry's understanding of climate impacts only continued to grow. By the early 1980s, companies like Exxon were aware that if climate change was going to be avoided, it was time to act then. Instead of taking action on climate, companies did the opposite.
