Is there any indication that John Stuart Mill had read John Milton's areaopagitica? It's certainly a lot of commentators draw the comparison between the two. And just as a funny little piece of trivia, Mill's family once lived in a house that belonged Milton. He believed that you've got to prepare people for the kind of liberty that people leave out to have.
