The Importance of Respect in a Dysfunctional System
When I was an intern in the ICU, emotions had no place in professionalism. On that day, when those residents at the gathering asked us to examine facts and feelings, I was able to cry in front of them. And we were still good doctors. We need to teach each other and ourselves how to respectfully wrestle with these hard changes.
