You don't get this all for free. Everything that we've talked about so far applies under a certain set of conditions. We assume independence, continuity and multi variate normality. Those are obvious. A little less obvious, and one that has no real answer is we need a sufficiently large sample size in order for those asimtotic derivations to kick in. I dare any one to ask us what that sample size is. Nobody knows. It is the best kept secret in all statistics.
