The Compliment Pathway
The classical pathway is activated whenever there's an antibody that recognizes a foreign antigen. The lectin pathway gets activated when lectins, which are proteins, they recognize carbohydrate patterns or moieties on the surface of a bacteria. The alternative pathway is different from these two because it does not require a trigger. So what happens is ultimately the goal of the three pathways is to convert the C3 into C3B.
