universal basic income would be a good start, says the writer. Everyone should have a basic standard of living they can't fall below. Even alaska gives everyone an amount of money every year regardless of who they are as part of their 'sovereign wealth fund' The idea that if you're unemployed, that was a problem of society and not because people were lazy or feckless is what i grew up with in britan.
