The opposite of money avoidance is called worship. This money script also affects people who grew up without much money. If you're putting money on a pedestal, there's no amount of purchases that are going to make you happy in any sort of sustainable way. Our culture lies to us about how rich people actually spend their money. And so how do you become wealthy, and how do you grow you're not worth? Well, it's by saving and by investing, and not by buying the latest flashy thing to try to impress your neighbors.

He says that while external economic forces often shape our financial well-being, our unconscious beliefs about money also contribute to how well we manage our money.
