The Enlightenment in the Eighteenth Century

The enlightenment is used as r described as the age of reason. Most of those figures that we learn about in school are part of what historians call the high enlightenment. These are kind of intellectuals that usually surround themselves with around power their pate. Their patrons are the ins and the queens, the monarchs. They tend to live a very, a different lives from normal people. And they are intellectuals, they are thinkers, and that's what they do. That is their calling, that is, their vocation. It to write, to think and so ar. In other words, these are the great kind of thinkers of the age, so to speak.
