I think there is a role for government to create a basic set of conditions in which people can live their lives freely. I talk a lot about politics being the prerequisite to civil society, but not being the same thing as civil society. On one extent, it's the government saying some guy in China wants to sell something and Tim in Virginia wants to buy it,. But on the other hand, that kind of was a public policy decision made by our ruling class.
