The Non-Representational Dimension of Silence

Silence itself is non-representational. So we have to represent it by some other means. In the case of your debate, it was your physical presence. There are always little silences in every discursive act. And those little silences are not accidental. They're necessary for the modulation of speech. You also have gaps between sentences. The pauses that are key for the flow of speech, for the rhythm of discourse.
