Republican leadership understands this moment. Democrats might have taken democracy for granted, but republicans have kicked it out of bed. We are also living through a time that is not particularly favorable to democracies. The internet has morfed into the undemocratic belief that every opinion has the same value as another. Racist and anti racist are not good or bad. They're just two sides. This is what allowed donald trump to get away with saying there were good people on both sides in charlottesville. It's what's causing our country so much trouble with the anti vax or anti masque sentiment. And without truth, there can be no commonality, no unity and no coming together
