Dodo Eggs - The Poster Childer
They were adapted to a basically a predator free environment. And then we introduced rats, which ate their eggs in their ground nests. They really had no chance that they weren't maladapted or, you know, broken in any way. The etymology of the word dodo is kind of unclear. Some ascribe it to the Dutch word dodo for slugger,. It's more probably related to dodards, which means either fat arse or not arse referring to the knot of feathers on its hind end.
