Ambulance waiting times going up almost as fast as the thermometer. Newsnight spent on monday between eight a m and eight p m, at six hospitals with longest delays of getting patients handed over from paramedics to staff. We were told that there was 32 ambulances avail after midnight on new year's day. 17 of those were outside hospitals. And is there an immediate kind of sticking plaster, to use a horrible clichet, that can be applied to this problem?
