The wellfare state is a relatively new invention er, you know, it was only called the welfare state after world war two. It's kind of started with the national insurance act between 19 o seven and 19 11. In the nineteenth century, what were called the friendly societies, the co operative societies. And in the context of the time, they worked really well. They happened organ you know, human beings must have a basic need to provide each other with welfare. When em there was the introduction of of national insurancen, which eliminated the friendly societies,. The government wanted to replicate them at the national level. You don't pay for same service when they're giving your local insurance twice
