The Challenges of Rescue Operations in Deep Water
Rescue operation at depths of 8,000 meters is not unfeasible, says former Australian rescue operator. The biggest challenge that an ROV faces is the drag on its umbilical against the current. It doesn't have redundant systems and emergency systems such as radio transmitters or beacons which could alert people to where it's lost when it was died.
