Butler argues that both of these thinkers end up romanticizing a kind of pre-gendered or pre-sexed individual, which is wrong. She says there is no possibility for women to escape the domain of language and therefore can't simply get out of it in ways that have been traditionally imagined. The project has to be considered from a psychoanalytic Laconian one.
