Dante's Refusal to Enter Hell

Pilate famously in the Christian story refuses to decide himself who Jesus was and hands that decision over to the crowds. He's now part of the Huype Loy as he runs through these early stages of hell stung by bugs but there's something about Dante seeing that because again it reflects his state of mind if he knows one thing you might say is that he hasn't made a refusal to enter hell. The souls are eager now they're both eager to embrace their fate and eager to move further into hell. I just wonder whether even in this now sort of increasingly dire place there's flickers of love faith hope still alive in people unconsciously they feel at one level that every hope
