Tasmania's Convict History

Tasmanian Aboriginal people have been part of this section of land in Tasmania for more than 35,000 years. The only food the residents on the penal station could grow themselves were some potatoes and turnips on another island, a semi-shelted Phillips island. There was nowhere near enough food to feed the entire population as diseases such as scurvy and dysentery weren't self-sustaining at the time.
