The Importance of Mutual Understanding in Dialogue
I think that mutuality of understanding is the prerequisite for any kind of dialogue, whether it's affirming one another's point of view or disagreeing with them. We very much live in a culture of instant opinions. People would rather react than respond because it's faster. And we've almost kind of lost the capacity for thinking or have become bored with thinking.
