#330 – Hikaru Nakamura: Chess, Magnus, Kasparov, and the Psychology of Greatness

Lex Fridman Podcast

CHAPTER

What Makes Magnus So Good?

Magnus Hakaro plays great openings and there's just really no defined weakness that he has. There are many times where players actually out prepare him in the opening phase but as soon as they're on their own, they think very often times they'll make mistakes so there's just no weakness for MagnusReally no weakness unlike say Kaspar like Kaspar on the other hand there were very clear weaknesses in his game like Kramnik exploit them. He is not a great defender either very strong tactfully but if he was in positions that were defensive he would make mistakes and lose an end games like he did in one of those games in the world championship against Kramnik.
