Fredlin has been around for a long time it's been around since the 1970s. A belief in Fredlin was what sustained a lot of people during some truly awful times and those stories do get passed down from generation to generation. There is very little anti-Indonesian sentiment in Timor there's still a lot of resentment against the Indonesian military but that doesn't carry forward to individual Indonesians. Indonesia is encouraging Timor to join asia because they have an excellent relationship with Indonesia.
