Kenneth Langa: 10% of the U.S., 65-plus population has dementia, about 22% with MCI. There was significantly higher risk of dementia among African Americans and significantly high risk of MCI among Hispanic individuals. The key strength of a study like the HRS and H-CAP is it is representative and includes African Americans and Hispanics that are often not included in clinical volunteer studies on brain health.
