Nearly all states established asylums and institutions for disabled people in the mid nineteenth century. In a whole host of ways, people challenged restrictions based on disabilityand advocated for their rights as citizens. So this is just one individual person in her story of resistance. We think that she was born in 17 80 fiveand we do know that she lived in east bradford, pennsylvania.
