Hurricanes and Coral Reefs in the Keys
Coral reefs prevent billions of dollars and damage to the us each year. The state of florida, which has been hit by 18 hurricanes over the last forty years, has one of the largest barrier reefs in the world. Nearly 90 % of the living coral in the florida keys has disappeared during that time. marine biologists have stepped up their efforts to find innovative ways to rescue the reefs.
