Joe Schmoe spent 17 years in prison for a crime he committed when he was 19. He lost the case to trial and then focused on his criminal appeals, which took up quite a bit of his time. After that, he got into civil litigation against the Department of Corrections 14 times. That kind of led him towards critical thinking books about different topics in science.
