Killing the Black Body - The Color of Child Welfare

Matt Welch: In working on killing the black body, I became aware of all the newborns who were being taken from their mothers at birth and put in many of them were left in the hospital. He says it's been like the primary vehicle for pathologizing blackness. Welch: When we come back after the break, we're going to talk about how these two systems, the system that is born out of the war on drugs and the child welfare system come together in the problem of child separation.
