The Importance of Attachment Behavior in Psychotherapy

Human beings are born in a state of extreme immaturity. A newborn infant is incredibly vulnerable to predation. We need a behavioral system to ensure that when that infant is threatened, help is at hand. Many psychiatric disorders or mental illness can be understood in attachment terms because the individual is kind of so dependent on their caregiver.
