The Legacy of Valerie Legasov
Valerie Legasov was posthumously awarded the honorary title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his work at Chernobyl. The 30-kilometer exclusion zone around Chernobyl is too contaminated to be habitable, and scientists estimate it will stay this way for another 20,000 years.
