The same gerontocracy that runs the Conservative Party is still there. It hasn't changed more than anything it has not and will not change its opinions. The party attempts to frame itself now as a tedious but competent safe pair of hands. And yet what we have coming down the line this winter will make it impossible to sustain that myth. None of these things can be effectively tackled by a government that has no legitimacy in the public eye because we know what their opinion ratings are at moment.
