The Importance of Focused Attention

A person focuses his or her attention on a particular concept, there's a tendency to see that concept as more important than before. We assume that if we're focused on something, it must be worthy of our attention. A communicator who gets an audience to focus on a key element of a message preloads that message with importance. This is why brands will pay supermarkets a lot of money to have central placement on the shelf because we focus there and we buy it.
