Can't You Define Conscious Experiences?

We all know what consciousness is, it's the most familiar thing there is when we are awake. We have a specific experience of owning a body, of being a body and having a first person perspective on the world. And these are all aspects of what we tend to take for granted as a continuous experience of selfhood. The idea that one has to get really precise about a definition in advance of the science is slightly misguided. It would be good to get clear what we mean by conscious exe es because presumably they're not all the same kind of thing.
