The Spiritual Malady of Alcohol
Alcoholics have a predisposition that can trigger alcohol as being one of those things that, you know, like everybody looks for some way to cover up their problems. So my sponsor would call that a misdirected search for power. I wasn't somebody who drank to escape. I knew there was no escape. But I drank because it helped me get connected. And so I'm powerless over alcohol because it's a power rating on myself. It helps me feel connected.
