Bram Stoker and Dracula
Bram stoker was from dublin, but his name doesn't immediately pop up in the canon of irish writers. He's not mentioned as a huge literary figure like joyce would be, or becket. There's snobbery around harrer, i think. And then a book like dracula, it doesn't take place in ire. It takes place in fokin, eastern europe and in london. All the references are eastern european. You don't think of vampires as being particularly irish so bramstoker and dracula in general just doesn't feel irish. And we need to remind ourselves of it.
