How Relationships Can Help You Manage Stress
Loneliness and social isolation break down our health. They make it more likely we'll get coronary artery disease or type two diabetes. Good relationships help us manage stress, according to the DTFH's doctor. He says if you don't have anybody like that your body stays in a kind of low level fight or flight mode. This creates higher levels of circulating stress hormones like cortisol. It also causes chronic inflammation which breaks down different body systems.
