CNN's John Sutter recalls the odd group of people he worked with. He describes a mathematical savant who couldn't calculate how much to tip in a restaurant. Another programmer came up with a formula for tipping at parties, which was 0.7m per person. The pair were working on software that used base 16 instead of base 10 math.
