Haskell vs Elm - Is There a Difference?
In Haskell, it's culturally very strongly encouraged to be as general as possible. The ratio of time spent satisfying type classes in Haskell is much higher for Haskell than it was based on my memory of Java. There's also an element of this urge as, and I think it's just like a human urge to classify things. In his experience, people put way too much value in generics.
