Introduction

This week we're jumping ahead almost two decades to a short essay called on humor from 19 27. Freud came at this subject as a combination of past experiences mixed with wish fulfilments. The crucial theoretical break through that freud makes in this paper is the introduction of the super ego. We'll recall phrases like nothing can be hidden from the super ego, not even thoughts or it's on the lookout for oppor unities in the outside world to get the ego punished.
