The Life and Times of a Frenchman
Marat studied medicine in Bordeaux and then Paris. He never gained any formal credentials but still set up his own medical practice. In 1765 he moved to London due to a fear of being drawn into, quote, dissipation in France. Marat would remain in England until 1776, during which time he began publishing scientific, philosophical, and political writings.
