In the 1340s, Genoese are trading in Crimea. The most important centers of the slave trade was a city which used to be known as theodocias. In the 14th century, it is the Italian city-states that are dominating the trade. When we do the history of Crimea, this will all become clear. But when people talk about what Crimea always was, that is extremely suspicious.
