The Importance of Weightiness in Animal Rights

If I have to choose between Lassie, the rescue dog and Hitler, I would strike Hitler. But notice that by doing so, I would be protecting other lives. And yet here we are sitting talking about animal rights. So I worry that if you set the bar for weightiness as you have, we wouldn't be able to live fulfilled lives at all... As usual, there's a lot there.
