The Iraq War
I don't know that we would have had any of what we have now without the Iraq war, says Tom Watson. Labour got itself into a terrible mess by choosing Ed Miliband over David Miliband to be its leader after Chilcot report came out. And it cost us our confidence in our own values, but we didn't even try to bring them to Iraq. We just toppled Saddam and legged it,. So we lost our confidence without even trying to assert it, if you like. It's all counter-factual, but I do think there's a certain, we are predisposed to debating it in quite a simplistic way.
