The Economic History of AI and the Industrial Revolution
When you look realistically at the history, does it not take an enormous amount of negative impact for there to be a response from society to make this work better? Aren't we going to have to live through quite a lot of bad things? Great question. We don't actually discuss in the book because it has gelled in my mind more recently. The industrial revolution created a lot of misery as we talked about. But when reforms and policy responses and the labor movements reactions came, it wasn't too late and things could be reorganized. Things are happening much faster today. Are we going to be too late if not today in the next month or next year? I don't know the answer
