The collapse of civilizations is one of the kind of most prominent features that we can see in history. People faced an existential risk to them from a warring army, or over consumption of their resources. World bank was created after world war two to help solve conflicts without war between the major super powers. The idea that very, very positive sum g d p situations could keep us from going zero sum conflict has run up against an end. We're not just seeing too much plastics and the ocean microplastics, but all kinds of things on the toxicity side.
