A lot of energy is directed at sort of policing people's behavior when they are otherwise pretty constrained and not being given a lot of resources or power. And for some reason that same suspicion of people's motives and choices just doesn't get directed up at the same level. We don't oftentimes think about these kinds of questions when we're dealing with people who have more money and more power.
