The Problem Isn't Changing Culture, but Changing Incentives
I'm a conservative in the sense that i think we need new scripts for masculinity, but they need to be compatible with gender equality. Men lost the old script, we didn't replace it with a new scrip. The culturally dislocated and disoriented, many men are struggling. There's a wonderful paper by catherine eden and her colleagues called the tenuous attachments of working class men. What does it mean who i supposed to be now? What's the script? Because the script my dad followed doesn't lead to the same place that it would have thog that world has gone.
