Is There a Tradition That Is Alive?
Tradition is not a series of precepts and practices and dogmas. It's something that's, that's really alive. And one will not be inspired by what you and i are doing but will make it their own. In zen, they talk about one of the metaphors they use as is lathe work. The som in a masters wood would say they consider recognized the lathe work that another teacher had done on a student. That doesn't sound like rithing on to our generation - we're not relevant to people a hundred years ago. There's a lot of training that can happen that's actually very, very beneficial.
