Since 1991, individuals have been able to own shares of this humongous bank. They got granted shares in the company that they worked for. If you still own your original CBA shares that you got in 1991, the dividends that you get every year now are worth 50% of your original investment price. So I'd like to think about long-term investing. When you buy an investment, say you pay $5 a share, for example, it might only be paying 20 cents in dividends today. But after 15 years, it might be paying a dollar of dividends and you still have your original shares. That's compound interest, basically, for the dividends thatyou receive.
