The Origin of the Universe by Aristotle

Unlike Aristotle, Razi thinks the universe began to exist after not existing. For this to happen, there had to be something for God to make into a universe, and this was matter. Much as Aristotle describes matter as a principle of potentiality, Razi says that matter is a passive principle which receives form or determination from God who is an active principle.
