The Importance of Simulation in Aesthetics
This idea that actually what we're living in might be a simulation. I still haven't got to the argument about why we should consider it as more than a one in a billion possibility. Let us assume that the non-negligable fractions of civilizations at our stage reach technological maturity. Then we can show that each one of those who are so interested creates astronomical numbers of them because it's so cheap for a mature civilization to create an ancestor simulation. So if those two assumptions hold, therefore, there will be many, many more simulated people like us than there will be non-simulated people like us.
