The Origins of Megalithic Constructions in Britain

There must have been a strong belief in abstract benefits to motivate people to put such hard work and effort into the construction of chmonuments. It is interesting to note that a solid, y standing stone, which we refer to as a menhe, was placed near to the cromlick of the almendris roughly in the direction of the sunrise at the winter solstice. So there does appear to be a connection between megalithic construction and the activity of the sky. The purpose of these megaliffs has to be for ritual purposes.
